Making the most of vine shoots

Taking advantage of vine shoots to generate biomass

Vitibiom is a project focussed on finding uses for the vine shoots generated every year when the vines of the Rioja Alavesa are pruned. The pruning process is essential for a good grape harvest. Rioja Alavesa has 13,000 hectares of vineyards, which generate some 18,000 tons of vine shoots. The HAZI foundation heads this project taking advantage of vine shoots to generate biomass.
