At its meeting on April 18, 2024, the Agricultural and Food Policy Commission decided to declare the following sectors strategic for the call for grants for the processing, development, and marketing of agricultural, food, and fishery and aquaculture products (Lehiatu Berria Program, currently Lehiatu Investment): beef cattle, dairy cattle, seed potatoes, and the industrial food sector for the processing and marketing of organic agricultural products, the latter provided that the project is exclusively for obtaining processed organic products and at least 70% of the raw material comes from farms located in the Basque Country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently, on May 19, 2025, the Committee on Agricultural and Food Policy and Rural Development updated the sectors declared strategic for consideration, both in the aid programs applicable by the provincial councils and by the Basque Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By virtue thereof,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I RESOLVE:
To publicize the strategic sectors declared by the Committee on Agricultural, Food, and Rural Development Policy at its meeting on May 19, 2025, which will be taken into account in both the aid programs applicable by the provincial councils and those of the Basque Government, and which are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Dairy cattle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Beef cattle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Seed and consumption potatoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Forestry production and primary wood processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Basque Government aid programs that support processing and marketing processes, this consideration will only apply when at least 70% of the raw materials come from farms located in the Basque Autonomous Community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the aid programs of the provincial councils, it will be the latter that define the criteria for considering these sectors as strategic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, the processing and marketing of products from organic farming will be considered a strategic sector, provided that the project is exclusively aimed at obtaining organic products from raw materials originating at least 70% from farms located in the Basque Country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With regard to the Lehiatu Investment program, for the 2025 and subsequent calls for proposals, these sectors will be applied as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Dairy cattle: processing and marketing of dairy products from cattle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Beef cattle: slaughterhouses, processing, and marketing of beef products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Seed and consumption potatoes: selection, preservation, processing, and marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Forestry production: primary processing, including forestry processing in the field and marketing of forestry products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Processing and marketing of organic agricultural products, provided that the project is exclusively for obtaining organic products from raw materials sourced at least 70% from farms located in the Basque Country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
