On 18 February, the 4th Basque Country Food Innovation Transfer Conference was held in Mi\u00f1ano (Araba), attended by over 100 people representing all stages of the food value chain.The Basque Government\u2019s Minister for Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries, Amaia Barredo, opened the conference by highlighting the efforts our companies are making to innovate and improve their competitiveness. She also highlighted the importance of continuing to advance public-private partnerships and referred to the new Basque Gastronomy and Food Plan PEGA 2030, which includes 10 strategic projects where innovation is a key factor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eneko Axpe, a physicist and researcher, delivered the opening presentation, \u2018Euskadi 2050: anticipating the new food landscape\u2019, in which he identified climate change, immigration and robotics as key factors in the transformation of gastronomy and food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was followed by presentations from companies across the Basque Country\u2019s food value chain, who shared their experiences regarding the innovation initiatives they have undertaken or are currently undertaking, and the impact this has had and is having on their respective businesses. A total of 12 companies participated as speakers, divided into three thematic blocks: \u2018Innovation begins at the first link\u2019, \u2018New trends: NOLO drinks\u2019 and \u2018Innovation for food transformation\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
