The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Policy of the Basque Government, Bittor Oroz, has opened the meeting “Young Talents in Gastronomy” organized by the Basque Culinary Center, within the framework of the 7th Forum of Entrepreneurs, Culinary Action.
The event brought together 100 young talents from the world of gastronomy, who are revolutionising the sector at the age of 30. The attendees shared their experiences, careers and ideas in a space where the work they do is valued.
Vice-counselor Oroz shared with everyone the ONekin! program recently launched by the Department of Economic Development and Infrastructure, through the Vice-counselor’s Office of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Policy.
This is an aid programme aimed at micro-SMEs and Basque agro-food SMEs to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of the food and wood chain and to position the Basque Country as a benchmark in these areas.
ONekin! is structured around two initiatives, “Ekintzaile ONekin! Startups” linked to the field of entrepreneurship, and “MugaGabe” linked to the field of innovation. The programme is part of the support actions for companies to generate business and develop markets included in the Strategic Plan for the Basque Country’s Gastronomy and Food Industry 2020.
