Basque Innovation Map

15/06/2022

The Basque Innovation Map was presented today at the BEC in Barakaldo, coinciding with the Machine Tool Biennial. It is a unique platform that offers solutions to help companies to innovate and includes a search engine with more than 125 case studies, 650 solutions offered by 250 agents of the Innovation Ecosystem and a direct contact to access them.

The Map is the result of Innobasque’s collaboration with 250 agents including companies, knowledge agents, public agents, local development agencies, financial organizations and social agents. In addition, the Map includes an express profile to refine the search and in just 10 minutes directs to the most appropriate solutions for each case.

In a previous act, the Lehendakari has made a call to “join forces” to make Euskadi one of the leading European regions in innovation. “It is a Country Challenge that commits institutions, technology centers, universities and, above all, companies. An exciting, possible and unrenounceable challenge”- he said at the closing ceremony of the Innobasque Assembly.

The Lehendakari insisted that in situations of greater uncertainty the answer must be more innovation and recalled that the commitment of the Basque Government is to increase public investment in R&D over 6% until 2030.

He assured that although “expectations are being met” there is still “a long way to go” and cited a worrying figure: the percentage of innovative companies with more than 10 employees remains at 40%. This means that 6 out of 10 Basque companies are at risk of seeing their margins and turnover and their competitive capacity reduced.

“The company that does not carry out any type of innovation is jeopardizing its future viability” -he said- while assuring that the Basque Government will continue to promote daily innovation in small and medium-sized companies with programs such as Innobideak or Hazinnova, which are already underway.

“In Euskadi any company that decides to innovate has support… Nobody can be left aside and the culture of innovation must be part of the culture of the company”- he concluded.
