The Basque Country was the first autonomous community to adapt Law 12/2013 of 2 August, on measures to improve the functioning of the food supply chain, through Decree 57/2024 of 7 May, which aims to establish a rebalancing and ensure the transparency of trade relations between operators in the Basque food supply chain.
A year ago, the Basque Government set up the Food Chain Inspection Unit, which has reinforced the control and inspection system for 2024 with the aim of guaranteeing good commercial practices in the agri-food sector in the Basque Country. To find out more about the main points of these regulations and how the Inspection Unit works, there is a web portal where you can find out more about the new functioning of commercial relations in the chain.
